"May (Alternate Mix)" is a song by American singer-songwriter Marian Renta released as a single on July 27, 2021. It is an alternate version of "May" from her second extended play (EP) Great Deep. Renta has stated this was the originally intended version of the song but was swapped for a piano-only version she produced at the last minute, instead. "May (Alternate Mix)" explores themes of nostalgia, longing for an unfulfilled romance, and the anniversary effect (a collection of disturbing feelings, thoughts or memories that occur on or around a date that marks a significant event). The single contains one track, and features Renta on piano throughout. Renta's vocals are performed in a mezzo-soprano tessitura, and her vocals are performed through the use of melisma in the chest and head voice ranges.
